- Plant Info
Botanical name: Origanum vulgare
Oregano needs to be planted in full sun. It does not need a trellis or fertilizer.
- How To Sow
Sow seeds 1/4th inch deep, 10-12 inches apart, and water well. Keep soil moist but not soggy until they sprout.
- After Planting
Oregano is a fairly low-maintenance plant, needing just basic watering and weeding.
- Harvest Time
45 days after sprouting, the first young leaves can be harvested. The leaves will be fully mature at 60-90 days. To harvest, use sharp shears to clip the oregano stems into segments 2-3 inches long. Leave at least a few inches of growth above the soil line so the plant can continue to grow.
