- Plant Info
Botanical name: Brassica rapa subspecies narinosa.
This plant is a relative to bok choy and cabbage. It can be grown in full sun to partial shade. Tatsoi prefers cooler weather, but can tolerate many conditions with proper care. This plant does not need a trellis, and does not need fertilizer.
- How To Sow
Plant seeds 1/4th inch deep, 4-8 inches apart, and water well. Keep the soil moist but not soggy until the seeds sprout.
- After Planting
After planting, simply keep the soil moist but not soggy, and wait until it’s time to harvest!
- Harvest Time
25 days after the seeds sprout, there should be small ‘baby green leaves’ that can be harvested. Fully mature leaves, which are larger and more flavorful, take a total of 40-50 days to grow. You can either harvest the whole head of tatsoi all at once or individual leaves from the outside layer. New leaves will continue to sprout from the center.
